Gambling Harm Awareness Week

Queensland’s Gambling Harm Awareness Week (GHAW) is 6 to 12 July 2026.

Every year, GHAW aims to increase awareness of gambling harm, safer gambling practices and help that’s available to people affected by gambling.

The 2026 theme “the odds change when the conversation starts” reflects the important role that open and honest conversations play in addressing gambling harm.

Gambling harm is often a hidden issue, with many people feeling isolated or ashamed to seek help. By starting the conversation, we can create safe spaces for individuals to share their experiences and access the support they need. Open dialogue helps to break down the stigma surrounding gambling harm, making it easier for people to reach out for assistance without fear of judgement.

If you or someone you know is affected by gambling, help is available. Visit Gambling Help Queensland for free, confidential support and resources.
